Aim Trust’s Empowering Adolescent Girls Program addresses the educational, socio-cultural, and health challenges faced by adolescent girls in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. The program focuses on providing information, skills, and support to improve girls’ education, safety, and overall well-being.

Process Overview

The program follows a comprehensive, multi-layered approach involving several stages of intervention:

1. Awareness & Education:

  • Organizing community meetings, workshops, and school sessions to increase awareness of girls’ rights, health, and education.
  • Conducting door-to-door visits to engage families and ensure understanding of the importance of girls’ education and protection.

2. Skill Development & Empowerment:

  • Providing vocational training, including tailoring, digital literacy, and other livelihood skills.
  • Facilitating peer group learning sessions to foster solidarity and leadership among girls.

3. Community Mobilization:

  • Mobilizing community leaders and influencers to support girls’ education and challenge harmful traditions like early marriage.
  • Establishing community safety networks to prevent exploitation and ensure the protection of girls.

4. Institutional Support:

  • Collaborating with schools to improve infrastructure, such as building separate sanitation facilities for girls.
  • Training teachers, health workers, and local police officers on child rights and gender sensitivity.

5. Policy Advocacy:

  • Engaging with local and state authorities to ensure better implementation of policies and legal frameworks that protect girls’ rights.
