Empowering Nashra: A Journey from Adversity to Education
Nashra, a 13-year-old girl, lives in lucknow with her mother and two younger sisters, after the tragic loss of her father, a rickshaw driver who died following a severe accident. His death led to severe financial struggles, causing Nashra and her sisters to stop attending school.
Tahezeem, a member of the adolescent collective in AIM Trust program , learned about Nashra’s situation and the hardships her family faced, including the pressure to marry her off. Despite these challenges, Nashra expressed a strong desire to continue her education and support her family.
Tahezeem and the team visited Nashra’s home, spoke with her mother, and emphasized the importance of education and the dangers of child marriage. After ongoing counseling and persistent efforts, the family agreed to cancel Nashra’s marriage and support her education.
The girls were enrolled in the CAC (Community Adolescent Center), where they started their learning journey again. Teachers worked hard to place them in the right grade level, and since joining, significant progress has been seen in their education and enthusiasm. The girls now attend with determination, filled with hope for a better future. We believe they will succeed and make their family proud.
